Ironman, or IronMOM

I am so fired up!

After being hit by a texting driver this summer I put my Ironman goal on hold, as well as work and all other activity for several months.

I’m still faced with challenges caused by my injuries everyday. But my challenges are nothing compared to those who are staring down Cancer and fighting for their lives.

This year has been a tough one for my family. My father in law has been battling an aggressive Mouth Cancer. He may live alone…but he is not alone in his fight. My husband Reggie (his only son) visits him everyday at 6am and 6pm to check on him, as well as clean his trache and his g-tube.

Just a few weeks ago I learned my gorgeous young cousin Jenny (at only 29) has stage 2 Breast Cancer. She is a new mom to Nathan, a loving wife to Eddie, a dance teacher to many and the hardest working loan processor/underwriter I know!

Cancer is not only affecting my family, but also many of my friends. And when it comes their battles…I’ve witnessed immense strength and success, but also sadness and loss.

So when I got a Facebook message from my friend and Ironteam bike coach, Margaret Mackey, asking me if I still wanted to meet my Ironman goal as a member of #teamintraining’s Ironteam my reply was…

“OMG!! Yes, yes, yes! I would be honored to join the team. Woohoo…I love you! I LOVE you! Did I say I love you!?!”

Not only am I being given the opportunity to train for an awesome personal challenge, but also raise money for Cancer research.

MY GOALS:

(1) Kick ass and complete the Ironman Lake Tahoe on September 22, 2013. (swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles, run 26.2 miles)

(2) Kick Cancer’s ass by raising $7,000 for Leukemia & Lymphoma as a part of Team in Training’s IronTeam.
