Description:
I've been working with the Clinton Health Access Initiative in Lesotho, a country with the third-highest prevalence of HIV in the world. Nearly 50% of women under 40 are HIV+, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of AIDS is crucial. I snapped this picture on a site visit to a clinic, evaluating a new monitoring technology for HIV+ patients, including pregnant mothers. Hopefully by the time this sassy little girl is a mother, its impact in the epidemic will be felt.
